Privacy policy
What SizeUp collects when you measure up for a quote, who sees it, how long it is kept, and how to have it removed.

Who is who
SizeUp is quoting software for building trades and home services. When you measure up through a business’s quote page, that business is the one quoting for your work. SizeUp runs the software and holds the data on its behalf.
That means two organisations are involved in different ways. The business decides whether to quote, what the price is, and what it does with your details afterwards. SizeUp provides the measuring, the pricing and the messages, and keeps the two sides apart.
SizeUp is operated from New South Wales, Australia, and follows the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What is collected
From a homeowner asking for a quote:
- your name, email address and mobile number;
- the address of the property the work is at;
- what you want done: the items you add, the measurements you take, the answers you give and any notes;
- the photos you take, with their location data removed as they are uploaded;
- when you accept an estimate or approve a confirmed price: the name you type, the date and time, and the network address the approval came from. That is kept because it is an agreement to spend money.
From a business using SizeUp: the business’s own details, its licence and ABN, its prices, its availability, and the account details of the people who sign in.
SizeUp does not collect payment card numbers. Where a payment is made, it is handled by Stripe and the card details never reach SizeUp.
Why it is collected
To work out an estimate from your measurements and the business’s own prices, to send it to you, to book a site measure, and to carry out the work if you go ahead.
To send you the messages that belong to that job: the estimate, the booking confirmation, a reminder the day before a visit, the confirmed price. You can stop the optional ones; the ones carrying the link to your own estimate cannot be switched off, because without them you would have no way back to it.
To keep the product working and honest: SizeUp records how far a homeowner’s measurement was from the one taken on site, so the price ranges it shows can be calibrated. Those records hold the item type, how confident the measurement was and the two measurements. They carry no name, address or contact details.
Your measurements are yours
The measurements and photos you take belong to you. You can send them to more than one business, and you can ask for them back or have them deleted.
A business’s prices, its price schedule and the sizes it measures on site belong to that business. They are never shown to another business, and they are never included in anything you share.
A business only sees your measurements once you press Send. Up to that point nobody but you can see them.
How long it is kept
A homeowner project is deleted 12 months after the last time anything happened on it. You get an email a month before that, so nothing disappears without warning.
When a project is deleted, the copies held by the businesses you sent it to are anonymised: your name, contact details, the address and the photos are removed. The item descriptions and the totals stay, because a business has to keep records of what it quoted and what it was paid for.
Where a business has already sent your details into its own job system, SizeUp cannot delete them from there. That business is told, so it can.
The audit log, which records what staff did and when, is kept for two years.
Asking to see it, correct it or delete it
Write to the address at the foot of this page. For a deletion request, the steps are:
- your identity is confirmed through a link sent to the email address on file;
- every business on SizeUp is searched for your data, by email address and mobile number;
- the businesses that hold it are told;
- your project is deleted and their copies are anonymised;
- you get an email confirming what was done.
SizeUp answers within 30 days. If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Keeping it safe
Each business’s data is separated in the database itself, not only in the application, so a fault in one screen cannot show one business another’s customers. Automated tests try to cross that line on every change and have to fail.
Photos and documents are held in private storage and reached through links that expire. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Staff access to a business’s account is read-only, shows a banner on every screen, and is logged.
A homeowner measuring up is given an anonymous session so her work survives a refresh or a flat battery. It is not used to track her anywhere else.
